CEDAR CITY - William Arch Beatty, age 71, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005 from heart problems. He was born on July 25, 1934 in Cedar City, Utah to Archie Edmond and Mary Isabella Stewart Beatty. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Beatty and three children, Rusty (Cynthia) Beatty, Lanice (Dan) Dietz, Justin (Kim) Beatty and daughter Kathy (deceased), step children, Debbi (Rick) Lund, Janiece (Mike) Swanson, Richard (Sheila) Barton, Jeff (Karman) Barton, twenty-one grandchildren and one great grandchild.Brothers and sisters include Stewart LaVon (Velva) Batty, Iris (Adrian) Fredericks, and Evelyn (Keith) Foster. He is preceded in death by his parents Arch and Mary Beatty, brother Archie Beatty, sisters Isabell Beatty, Pearl Beatty, Zelma Beatty and LaGene Beatty.
William was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Bishopric counselor twice, a counselor in the High Priest Group Leadership, and many other positions. He was also an active member of the Utah Trail Riders where he served as President. William loved to garden and do metal work. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and his family. He also enjoyed working at the St. George Temple. He graduated from Hurricane High School, and joined the Army, serving our country in 1957.
