Virginia Shaw - 12/22/2010
Class of 1951
Virginia Shaw passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 surrounded by her family, after a long battle against breast cancer. She was born July 27, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to Parley J. and Ivy Clark Ferrin.
In 1946, Virginia met the love of her life, Lowell Shaw, whom she wed on January 10, 1952, after earning her diploma at Ogden High School in 1951. Over the next 11 years, they would have six children. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 22, 1961.
She was quite a rebel and soon joined Lowell on the road as a long-haul trucker. In 1974, Virginia went to work for the Ogden City School District at Central Middle School. In her 31 years of service to the students, parents and faculty of Ogden, she touched many lives and will be warmly remembered. Virginia also loved music and always could be heard whistling a cheery tune or directing the ward musical. We will always remember her favorite “trucking” and “Mrs. Shaw” stories.
Virginia is survived by six children, Susan (Gordon) Bryner, Clark (Colleen) Shaw, Leann (Daniel) Hammer, Sandra (Dan) Bodily, Lynne (Dave) Olsen, and Coleen (Steve) Burgess; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jolene Shaw and Janae (Monte) Matue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Parley and Ivy Ferrin, and a grandson, Jared.
