OGDEN – Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Glen L. Farrell, returned home to his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, surrounded by his family. Glen was born on February 5, 1925, in Ogden, Utah. He was a son of Parley James Farrell and Hazel Jackson Farrell.

He was educated through the Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High School. A fine athlete, he played basketball for Ogden High School. Their team was regional champions both years he played. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in a Carrier Aircraft Service Unit. Following the war, he attended Weber State University.

Glen married his high school sweetheart, Norma Cross, on June 21, 1946.The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple had two sons and two daughters. They were deeply saddened at the death of their oldest son David, who died at the age of 16 from cancer.

He was part owner of the Farrell Grain Company in Ogden, and worked there 15 years. He was co-owner of a Real Estate firm. He also worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as a grain inspector, and was later employed as a Real Estate appraiser with the Weber County Assessor’s office for 20 years. He retired in 1990.

Glen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and at the time of his death, was a High Priest in the Waterfall Canyon Ward. He had served in various callings, including a member of two bishoprics.

He was a member of the Ogden Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, where he had served as a Vice President and Treasurer. He was a member of the Ogden Executive Club Association, and had served a term as president.

An avid golfer, he had been a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club for 25 years. He was a member of the Weber State Wildcat Club, where he and Norma had received a “Super Fan” award for their many years of support for the school’s teams. Glen enjoyed working in his yard throughout the summer. His yard was always immaculate, and filled with beautiful flowers and shrubs. Glen and Norma enjoyed traveling, and had been on eight cruises and many trips throughout the county.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; his son, Dr. Scott (Janis) Farell, North Salt Lake, UT; and two daughters, Nancy (Dan) Wallwork, Huntsville, UT; and Diane Farrell (John Vandal), Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and another on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; a brother, Wayne; and a sister Helen.

The family would like to especially thank Cindi Allen, his loving nurse, for her dedicated care of our father.

Glen will be greatly missed by his family. He had a great sense of humor, was a lot of fun to be around, and was the “the life of the party”.
