Rose Melba Allred Dabb - 1/23/2011

Ogden – Rose Melba Allred Dabb, 94, died January 23, 2011 at Crestwood Care Center. She was born May 27, 1916 in Marriott, Utah to Orson Parley and Florence Roseltha Butler Allred. She graduated from Ogden High School. Melba married Stanley Poorte Dabb September 9, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, he preceded her in death on March 9, 1963.Melba was a member of the LDS Church and held various positions in Primary and Relief Society. She served two proselyting missions, two Temple missions, two Church History missions and was an Ogden Temple ordinance worker.
She was a secretary at Weber High School and was a member of Sego Lily Camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, she was also a volunteer at McKay Dee Hospital and enjoyed her service there. She was an accomplished violinist; she played for many church meetings and functions accompanied by her sister, Peggy Searles Underwood. She was an avid walker until her years caught up with her, loved to do word searches and crossword puzzles to keep her brain active, enjoyed reading, quilting and embroidery work. Her favorite activities were family gatherings at her home, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas and family camping trips.
Melba is survived by her children, Carol Dabb (Harold) Bowers, Jeanette (Brent) Sorenson, David (Kathleen) Dabb, Rosalie Polson, Kevin (Janice) Dabb and Kim (Debbie) Dabb; 38 grandchildren; 92 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Dean Allred and sister, Carma Gentry Chase.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; two sons, Norman Stanley and Reid Eugene; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; three brothers, Thurman, Clair and Delwyn and two sisters, Mabel (Peggy) Searles Underwood and Ruth Wise.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Orchard Park 1st Ward, 3207 Orchard.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 27th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and at the church prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Gardens Assisted Living, Crestwood Care Center and Advocate Hospice.
