St. George, Utah - Rudger Morris McArthur passed on November 2, 2010. He was 89 years old. Rudger was born October 19, 1921, to Wilford Woodruff and Etta Leah (Morris) McArthur in St. George, Utah. He married Erma Geneve Blunck June 21, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Rudger served the community of St. George as Director of Utilities and as Interim City Manager on many occasions. He was responsible for many water and community projects that residents of St. George enjoy today. Rudger had a love for Pine Valley where he was involved with many community improvements that are enjoyed by all who live or visit there.
Rudger is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Central States Mission and enjoyed many callings in his ward. He especially loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice which he willingly shared. Rudger had the opportunity to serve 27 years in two Summer Group Presidencies at the Pine Valley LDS Chapel.
He is survived by his children: Jacqueline (George) Sanders, Joey (Russ) Ames, Richard (Ellen) McArthur, Scott (Dayna) McArthur, and Jane (Jim) Weaver; 18 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George City Cemetery.
