Thelma Neilson Clove - 12/30/2010

Class of 1946

ST. GEORGE — Thelma Clove, age 82, passe away December 30, 2010 in St. George. She was born June 24, 1928 in St. George. Her parents are Vernal Neilson and Helen Hannig Neilson. She is the oldest of three children. She married Thomas Alvy Clove on September 22, 1947 in Washington, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.

Mom was raised in Washington, attending elementary school there and then attended High School in St. George. She graduated from Dixie High School. After she married dad, they attended BYU and then moved to Henderson, Nevada where they lived from 1954 until 1978. They moved back to Washington where mom has lived until her passing.

Mom was a homemaker and mother first of all. She loved children. She loved her family and spent her life providing a loving home for them. She was a wonderful cook and baker and kept our home clean and organized. You never left her home hungry. She loved growing things and knew the names of most of the plants in any nursery she visited. She loved all kinds of flowers and had a beautiful yard always. She loved to garden and can the produce, much of which she gave away.

Mom worked at the Henderson Home News and also with the Washington County School Lunch Program before her retirement at the age of 72.

Mom was very musical and played the piano. Mom was a member of and was always active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held callings in the primary organization and the Relief Society as the pianist for over 40 years. She especially loved the primary working with the children. Mom served many other people with acts of kindness. We are all grateful for having such a tender and loving mom.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvy; brother, Wilford; and daughter-in-law, Addie Marie Clove. She is survived by her five sons: Terrill (Mareli) of Washington, Utah, Daryl and Kelly (Karen) of Henderson, Nevada, Craig of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kevin of Logandale, Nevada; and brother, Sheldon of Washington, Utah. She has 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. We want to express our gratitude for the loving care mom received from Dr. Clark Staheli and the staff at the Meadows.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Washington LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 82 North Main Street, Washington, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery.
