Richard Lee Hafen - 1/24/2009

Class of 1985

Beryl, UT - Richard Lee Hafen, 41, had a heart attack at his home in Beryl, Utah on January 24, 2009 and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah. They were unable to revive him. Richard was born March 20, 1967 in St. George, Washington County, Utah to Charles Moroni Hafen and Evelyn Voyles Hafen.

Raised in Ivins, Utah, he attended the local schools, graduating from Dixie High in 1985. He attended SUSC the following year. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and entering items in the Washington County Fair. His work consisted of trucking and farming.

He married Denise Gordon in 1995, and was later divorced. Their son Richard Sean Hafen was the light of his life. Richard married Fe' Longara on April 10, 2008 in the St. George Temple. He found happiness and enduring love with Fe'. Richard had a friendly, outgoing personality. He loved people and was always happy to greet them with a big hello or hug. He was kind hearted and had a giving nature. He loved the annual Hafen family traditions of Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas Eve parties, and family reunions. We will remember always his enjoyment of being Santa's helper. During the Christmas season he shared sacks of potatoes with his family. He loved farm animals and living in Beryl, Utah where he had many friends. He loved to cook and was an excellent cook. He was preparing breakfast when he became ill.

Richard is survived by his wife: Fe' of Beryl, Utah; son Richard Sean; mother: Evelyn Hafen of Las Vegas, Nevada; siblings: Jerry, Emily, James, Shannon (Kay) Campbell, and Heather (Ciro) Giammona; and an extended family of many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Moroni Hafen and his grandparents Weston and Fern Hafen and Hyrum and Mildred Voyles.
