Elsa Hunt Addis-Davidson - 11/29/2010

Class of 1949

St. George, Utah - Elsa Hunt Addis Davidson passed away November 29, 2010 in Seattle Washington. She suffered a massive stroke as she was finishing her dream trip to see her new grandson, and have an early Thanksgiving with her family.

Elsa was born October 12, 1931 to Ray Von and Augusta Wilcox Hunt in Clifton, Idaho. In 1934, the family moved to the Beryl Desert, where she grew up with her 12 brothers and sisters. She attended schools on the Desert, in Cedar City and in Enterprise. She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1949. After graduation, she and a girlfriend moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she worked as a Telephone Operator. She had a lovely voice that was popular in those days when operators had voices.

While in Los Angeles, she married John Ardelyan, and after they divorced she and their daughter Kathleen moved back home. Elsa married Bruce Addis and they made their home in Las Vegas Nevada. Bruce and Elsa had four children, Melina, Lincoln, Lacy, and Cole, and she was a busy, loving homemaker and mother. After Elsa and Bruce divorced, she married Donald Davidson. After Elsa and Donald divorced, she and Kathy moved back home to St. George in 2005 to be close to her daughter Lacy and husband Dave, who were lovingly dedicated to making her life happy and comfortable. All her children and grandchildren were caring and supportive in every way, as was her former husband Bruce.

Being in St. George also put her close to her three sisters with whom she spent many happy hours ? going to lunch, playing games, and taking outings to such places as Fredonia, Barkley, Blanding and Hawaii. Through the years Elsa took many Cruises, and traveled to exotic places, but Hawaii was her favorite and she once spent a pleasant month there with her brother Richard and his wife Joy.

Elsa had many talents. She had a lovely singing voice, was a great cook, had a knack for drawing, and had an amazing musical ability. She played by ear, and after hearing a melody once, could sit down at the organ or piano and play it perfectly. When she was young her mother arranged for her to take piano lessons, but discontinued them when she discovered that rather than learning the notes, Elsa merely repeated what the teacher had played. Her music was a joy to herself, and to others. Elsa was a gentle, kind, accepting friend to everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Elsa is survived by her children: Melina (Steve) Nicolatus of Park City, Utah, Lincoln Ray (Diane) Addis of Ottumwa, Iowa, Lacy (Dave) Neill of Veyo, Utah, and Cole Bruce (Tamara) Addis of Birch Bay, Washington. Her grandchildren are Branson Addis (Megan) Barr, Elysia Barr, Broc (Janelle) Addis, Colton Addis, Brynn Addis, Tess Neill, and Quinn Ethan Addis. Her great -grandchild is Clive Robert Addis. She is also survived by brothers: Stanley (Joyce) Hunt of Magna, Utah, Russell Hunt of Mesa, Arizona, Clyde (Delora) Hunt of New Harmony, Utah, Dale Hunt of Hurricane, Utah, and Allen (Leonie) Hunt of Blanding, Utah; and sisters: Mary Ann (Sidney) Atkin of St. George, Utah, Lucile Proctor of Panguitch, Utah, and Evaline (Marvin) Bracken of Beryl, Utah. Elsa was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Ardelyan; and brothers, Tommy Hunt, David Hunt, Richard Hunt, and Clinton Hunt.
