George Lyman (Lem) Nielsen - 10/24/2008

Class of 1954

George Lyman (Lem) Nielsen our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend returned with honor to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on Oct 24, 2008. He passed away from complications due to pneumonia. Lyman (Lem) was born May 25, 1936. The oldest child of George Lim Nielsen and Louise Christiansen in the house on the corner of 400 East and 700 North in Pleasant Grove Utah, (Monkeytown) USA, all of his schooling was completed in Pleasant Grove and he graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1954.

He married Norma Vivian Giles on September 28, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Lem was a highly skilled heavy equipment operator and welder. He spent many years working for Walker’s Construction and Neils Fugal & Sons. Working the land, gardening, farming, fishing and hunting were among his favorite past times. Dad served faithfully in many church callings, his favorites were Scout Master and serving in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

He is waiting to be reunited with his loving wife Norma, a brother, Grant (Joyce) Nielson, AZ, and a sister Linda L. (Donald) Dodge, Pleasant Grove. Eight children, Pamela (Russ) Hiatt, Bradley G. (Catherine) Nielsen, Roger L. (Sandra) Nielsen, Andrew G. (Tricia) Nielsen all of Pleasant Grove. Boyd L. Nielsen, American Fork, Angela A. Phillips, Shanna (Tyran) Ormond and Benjamin L. (Kodi) Nielsen also of Pleasant Grove. Samuel N. (Sherry) Pahona a foster son, AZ. Forty-four grandchildren, eighteen and a half great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. He has been reunited with his parents, grandparents and many others, one grandchild, Rudy Ann Nielsen and two great-grandchildren Riley Hiatt and Tacie Ella Papworth. We love you pops. Thanks for the memories.
