Thoral Leon Rasmussen - 6/7/2010

Class of 1949

Thoral Leon Rasmussen (Tobe and T-Ras) passed away peacefully at his home while surrounded by family members on Monday, June 7, 2010.

He was born February 23, 1931 in Cedar City, Utah to Clarence Arthur and Alice J. Henrichsen Rasmussen. He was raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

He married Carol Coates on December 7, 1950 in Pleasant Grove. On February 19, 1952, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

During the early years, he worked in construction, was a partner in Rasmussen Heating and Ventilating with his brothers, and at Geneva Steel. After attending Provo Trade Tech he began his career with IBM which lasted thirty-one years.

Thoral was an active member in the L.D.S. Church. He served many years in the scouting program which he loved and had a positive influence on many young men. He served in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum, and many years at the Jordan River Temple.

Survived by his loving wife, Carol; one son and two daughters, Gary (Pam) Rasmussen, Gail (Mike) Sylvester and DeAnn Rasmussen; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Melvin) Jex and Alene Fugal.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jordan North Second Ward Chapel, 4270 South Falcon Street (4145 West), with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
