Early Life: Myles was born in Lindon, Utah, on September 8, 1921, to Leonard Owen and Viola Gillman Harris. He grew up on the family farm in Lindon and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School where he played basketball and ran track.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Myles attended Utah State University for one year prior to marrying his high school sweetheart, Thelda Gardiner, on December 4, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their first child was born in 1943; shortly thereafter, Myles was drafted and served in the Pacific with the United States Navy during World War II. Following the war, they moved to Orem where he has lived for 64 years. Myles worked at Geneva Steel for 37 years prior to his retirement. He and his wife were avid BYU fans. Myles Owen Harris passed away on February 21, 2015.
Survived By: His eight children: Jay (Marilyn) Harris, Terry Harris, Calvin (Pat) Harris, Steven Harris, Mark Harris, Julie (Ed) Burrup, Chris Harris, and Jana (Craig) Cottle; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Preceded In Death By: His wife of 70 years, Thelda; his parents; and his brothers: Calvin, Arvil and Doyle Harris; and sisters: Wanda (Harris) Kirkwood and Melba (Harris) Harker.
