Glade D Walker - 8/23/2005

Class of 1947

Glade D Walker, 76, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2005. Glade was born February 4, 1929 in Lindon to Arnold Arthell and Luella Swenson Walker. He married LaRue Fautin on August 11, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glade grew up in Lindon and attended school in Pleasant Grove, graduating from Pleasant Grove High in 1947 where he served as Varsity quarterback and Senior Class President. He attended BYU and was a life-long Cougar fan. Glade was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Bishop of the Pleasant Grove 9th Ward. He and LaRue served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building from 1995-96. He worked at Geneva Steel for 44 years and retired in 1995. Glade enjoyed his family, working in his garden, associating with friends, golfing, and traveling with LaRue. He is survived by his wife LaRue of Pleasant Grove; children: Sherri (Layne) Atwood, Pleasant Grove; Shauna (Robert) Robinson, University Place, WA; Stephanie (Brent) McAllister, Pleasant Grove; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers: Arlo (Dorothy) Walker, Howard (Jeanne) Walker, Sterling (Anna Lee) Walker and sister-in-law, Verla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Lloyd.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 275 East 500 South, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
