Scott Lynn Gifford - 10/28/2008

Class of 1975

"A Life Uncommon"

Scott Lynn Gifford our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, of Alpine, triumphantly joined his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Scott lived a full and passionate life despite his 3 ½ year physical trials with cancer and liver failure.

Scott was born May 26, 1957 in American Fork, the youngest of three sons to Lloyd and Jean Nielsen Gifford.

On May 6, 1977, Scott was sealed for time and eternity in the Provo Temple to the love of his life, Susan Anderson. Together they were the proud parents of four amazing children and two wonderful grandchildren.

Scott grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.

Scott worked construction as a young man. Later, he served on the Murray City Police Department for 10 years and subsequently as a Reserve Officer for the Alpine/Highland Police Department.

More recently as an entrepreneur, Scott started Camelot Construction. In addition, he designed, built and owned Safe-N-Sound Self Storage in Spanish Fork.

Scott’s desire to serve, inspired him to co-found Hearts and Hands in Action: a non-profit organization, which to date has built ten homes on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona for families without homes.

Scott loved to play. His favorite places to take family vacations were Lake Powell, Capital Reef, Boulder Mountain and Hawaii. He loved hunting, fishing, water skiing, boating, sports, weight lifting, working hard, teasing and playing with those he loved.

Through his love and example, Scott touched and inspired countless lives. He was fiercely loyal to his family -- they were the most important thing in his life.

Scott was an active member of the LDS church in the Alpine 2nd Ward, most recently serving in the Elders Quorum Presidency. He had a powerful testimony of his Savior, which he shared often and inspired many.

Those celebrating his life are his wife and best friend Susan (Susie), four children and two grandchildren: Quinten Gifford (children, Montana and Taylor), Matthew (Heather) Gifford, Skyler Gifford and Elise Kathleen Gifford. He is also loved by his mother, Jean Gifford, his brother, Brenn (Zuly) Gifford, and his sister-in-law, Carol Gifford. Susan’s family: Gwen Anderson, Melanie and Kevin Aird, Brenda and Troy Bingham, Derek and Tammy Anderson, and Milli and Steve Sorensen, numerous loving extended family and friends.

Scott has been reunited in death with his father; Lloyd, brother; David and father-in-law; Rulon Anderson.
