Avera Smith Williams, 96, of Pleasant Grove passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008. She was born March 2, 1912 in Farnum, Idaho to Henry W. and Aurillia Richardson Smith. She married Elbert McKell “Mc” Williams on June 1, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Avera graduated form Pleasant Grove High School as Valedictorian in 1929, BYU Normal School in 1931, and BYU in 1958. She taught school in both Provo and Alpine School Districts for over 20 years and touched the lives of many children. She served in many church callings in the Pleasant Grove Timpanogos Second Ward. She and Mc served a mission to South Dakota Rapid City working among the Lamanite people. They also worked as ordinance workers in the Provo Temple for many years.
She is survived by her three sons: Kent (Charline) Williams, Pleasant Grove; Robert Williams, Pleasant Grove; Mark (Debra) Williams, Orem; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, with two expected soon; foster son: Ray Dan Lee, Shiprock, NM and seven Beehive Sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Mc; daughter, Myrla; son, Jay; and an infant son.
