She grew up in Lindon on a fruit farm; she attended Lindon and Pleasant Grove schools graduating in 1941. She married her high school sweetheart Joseph Thorne Smith, May 25, 1942 in Evanston, WY; their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, May 25, 1959. Thorne passed away Oct. 29, 1984.

She is survived by four sons and one daughter, Paul (Kathy) Smith, Glenn (Edith) Smith, Kim (Marilyn) Smith, Karen (Mike) Parkinson and Jeff (Debbie) Smith; 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by granddaughter, Emily Laura Smith.

She was well loved by all her family. Her home was the center of many cherished family activities. An active member of the LDS church she served in many callings, Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society Presidency and in the branch Relief Society Presidency at the Utah State Developmental Center, a calling she especially loved. She also served as an ordinance worker at the Provo Temple. She was a wonderful wife and mother and took pride in a beautiful home and loved her flower gardens. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting. She had a number of good friends who brightened her life. Her last few years were challenging but she faced her challenges rarely complaining. Thanks to all the caregivers who attended to her needs. We know we will see her again.
