William Mack "Butch" Walker - 2/16/2010

Class of 1943

William Mack “Butch” Walker, 84, of Orem was reunited with his parents, siblings, and son-in-law on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. He was born May 27, 1925 in Orem to Richard L. Walker and Alberta McEwan Walker. He married Velma Petersen on April 10, 1948 in Las Vegas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Butch grew up in Lindon and attended schools in both Lindon and Pleasant Grove. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1942, then served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII. Upon discharge from the service, Butch went to work at Geneva Steel as a welder and retired in 1986 after 35 years of service. During this time, Mack lived and farmed in Lindon where he and Velma raised their family.

He was an avid hunter, fly-fisherman, and enjoyed many outings with friends, family, and the Good Sam Club. Mack enjoyed the winters they spent in Arizona with many good friends.

He is survived by his wife; five children: Vickie (Rod) Patterson, St. George; Steven Walker, Lehi; Jana (Bud, deceased) Bath, Pleasant Grove; Kelli (Greg) Carson, Lindon; Brad (Gerri) Walker, Orem; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings: Bea Adams, Richard M. Walker, Ivan M. Walker, and Ellen Dawn Bezzant.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lakeview Elder Care in Pleasant Grove for the loving home-like care Mack was given for the short time he was there. A special thanks to the many doctors who attended to him.

Dad, we will catch up with you at the next fishing hole!
