Claire Nell Hilton (Huish) - 1/31/2013

Class of 1939

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend, Claire Nell Hilton Huish, passed away peacefully January 31, 2013 in Orem. It took diabetes, cancer, stroke and head trauma to bring this spunky little lady to this point in her progression back to her Heavenly Father. Mom was born June 25, 1921 at home in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Joseph Clarence and Gladys Muriel Richins Hilton, the 4th of 6 children. She enjoyed a carefree childhood in "Monkey Town" with her siblings and cousins. She participated in dance, choir, cheer and yearbook at PG High, graduating in 1939. She met Robert Choules Huish at BYU and they were married June 10, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bob passed away August 30, 1998. They raised 4 children: Robert H. (DeeAnn) Huish of Layton, Terryl (Gary) Campbell, Chris A. (Deann) Huish and Lee G. (Rosemary) Huish, all of Orem. Mom worked at Hill Air Force Base, Price's Ice Cream Parlor, and Granite Furniture and retired from Universal Campus Credit Union as a loan officer. She fulfilled many callings in the LDS Church including temple worker at the Provo Temple for several years. Mom enjoyed ceramics, gardening, reading and being with family. She was a member of Le Livre Literary Club for over 55 years and loved her association with these ladies. She has been a great source of strength and loving care to all of us. Survived by her 4 children, 25 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Hilton and Glade (Bonnie) Hilton of Pleasant Grove; brothers-in-law William Huish of Orem and Ray Tuttle of Taylorsville; sister-in-law Fawn Huish of Orem. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, Barney Hilton and John Hilton and sister, Phyllis Holien. We wish to thank the ward members and the nurses and staff of Orem Rehabilitation and Encompass Home and Hospice for their tender, loving care of our mother. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Edgemont 3rd Ward Chapel, 350 E. 2950 N., Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center St., Provo from 6-8 pm Thursday evening, February 7, and from 9:30-10:45 am before the services at the church Friday. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery. -Source: Daily Herald, Provo, UT; 6 Feb 2013.
