Our dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, Elwood Arvin Baxter, 74, died Thursday, November 15, 2007, at his home in Orem. He was born June 1, 1933, in Orem, Utah, to Elwood M. and Nona Kirk Baxter. Elwood worked for Geneva Steel for 31 years and then worked for & retired from Alpine School District after 15 years. He loved his family and spending time with them, as well as, camping, traveling, golfing, working in the yard. Elwood was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A faithful Home Teacher and served a mission at the Bishop's Store House in Lindon. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enlisted at 19-years-old.He is survived by four sons and four daughters: Kevin (Martha) Baxter, UT, Tammy (Russell) Lloyd, ID, Jari (David, deceased) Stokes, CA, Jeff (Laurie) Hansen, CA, Tracie Sabotka, WA, Debbie (Robert) Schmidt, UT, Bryant (Ashley) Baxter, UT and Chris (Robbi Ann) Baxter, ID; 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, sister Jean (Lee) McMillon and brother Calvin (Ray) Baxter. He was preceded in death by Leland and Coleen Baxter.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at Windsor 2nd Ward Chapel, 60 East 1600 North, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Windsor 2nd Ward Chapel.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
