Robert Eugene Walker 1924 ~ 2007Robert E. (Bob) Walker passed away October 28, 2007, after a two-month respiratory illness. The sixth child of Lawrence and Dahlia Walker of Lindon, Utah, Bob was born September 15, 1924. His siblings include: Grace (Fae) Fielding; Jennie (Elroy) Murdoch; Grant (Mary and Elma) Walker; Leon (Zeona) Walker; Lorayn (Aaron) Stoddard; Garth (Mary Gae) Walker and Utahna Ballard. At age 19 he served his country with the Merchant Marines during World War II. Upon his return, he served an LDS mission in the New England states. On August 18, 1950 he married Joyce Barton in the Manti Temple. Together they had 6 children: Eugene, Dory, Kaye Lynn, Patti, Mark, and Steven. Bob devoted his life to serving others. An educator by profession, he first taught in Provo and then was a teacher and principal for 32 years in Glendora, California. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ, Bob served as a Bishop and Stake President and in many other leadership positions. He and Joyce served a mission for the NY, NY Mission in Bermuda in 1985. Bob and Joyce have lived in Utah since 1992, where he served in the Provo and Timpanogas temples for the past 13 years. Bob fought a good fight and finished his course. He kept the faith, enduring to the end. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Orem North Stake Center 1000 N. Main St, Orem. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 12:30-1:40 p.m. Family and friends may also call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker/Sanderson Mortuary, 646 E. 800 N. Orem. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Glendora Stake Center.
