Gwen Devereaux (Smith) - 5/17/2016

Gwen Deveraux Smith of Lewiston, Utah died May 17, 2016 at the Franklin County Medical Center, Preston, Idaho.
She was born April 29, 1937 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was the 2nd of 5 children born to Alice Sweat Deveraux and Ray Deveraux. She spent her school years in Pleasant Grove, where she graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She married, (and later divorced) LaVar Wilkinson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and together they had one daughter, Darla. When she married her sweetheart, Norval Buzz Smith in 1969, he brought to their family, a son, Bradford and 2 daughters, Gwen and Barbara.
Gwen always had a special talent for taking care of others. Cleaning, running errands or just a friend for anyone who needed it. While supporting herself and Darla she worked long hours at Mode O' Day Clothing in Logan. She also made many friend while working as a waitress through out her life. Gwen was very talented with a needle her embroidery was beautiful. She loves flowers and a good book. During their 28 years together, Buzz and Gwen loved to travel with friends and family. They enjoyed many camping road trips together, especially cookouts in High Creek. In their early years they loved to dance. She was an active member of the LDS Church, where she held various callings. She enjoyed going to the temple with Darla.
She is survived by her brother Lew (Majel) Deveraux, sister Deana (Darwin) Bingham, daughter Darla (Scott) Low, son Bradford (Nancy) Smith, daughter Gwen (Lynn) Jorgensen and Barbara Westover, 17 grandchildren and 38 great-children, nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Buzz, 2 brothers Arlyn and Norman, son in law Craig Westover, and Braxton Buzz Oplin, great-grandson.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 in the Lewiston 1st Ward Chapel, 10 S. 1600 W. A viewing will held from 6-8 Friday, May 20, at Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E. 1800 N. in North Logan and from 11:30-12:30 prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Lewiston City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaies.net. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Primary Children's Hospital or your local charity would be welcome.
