Ruth Omer Handley, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 4, 2011 of causes incident to age. She was born December 3, 1922 to Gustave Sigfrid and Leona Johnson Omer in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She attended Pleasant Grove schools and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. She married Ralph D. Handley on December 18, 1943. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Ralph and Ruth served in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana mission in 1980. They enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, jeep riding and gardening, Ralph for his vegetables and Ruth for her rose garden. Together they pieced and quilted many quilts for family and friends. Ruth enjoyed family, reading, traveling and sewing. She was an active member of the LDS church. Ruth was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her many talents.
She is survived by two children, Ralph C. (Janet) Handley and Karla Hansen. Five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, siblings, Vaudis (Harold) Healey; Grant Omer, Reed Omer, Louise (Earl) Jacob; Harold Omer and Wesley Omer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends and family may attend a viewing from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com
