Ardie served his country in the U S Coast during WWII, stationed out of San Francisco. After his service he worked with his father on the family farm. Ardie loved farming and purchased the ground from his father near the mouth of Battlecreek Canyon. He started from scratch, having to clear the ground for planting by removing sage brush, scrub oak, native grasses and rock, plenty of rock. The farm was able to support two families. His son Ed worked many years with him. When he decided to step back, his son Paul and Ed worked the orchards together.
He enjoyed serving in a wide variety of church callings including Bishop, Counselor in the Stake Presidency, culminating with his call to serve as the first Patriarch of the newly formed Pleasant Grove Utah East Stake in which he faithfully served for 30 years.
After all his daily pursuits and achievements, the most important thing he found in life was what the Savior had done for him.
