Clifton J. Wadley
April 25, 1920 - May 23, 2015

Clifton J. Wadley, 95 of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, May 23, 2015. The same home in which he was born on April 25, 1920 to Richard David and Mary Ellen Olsen Wadley. He was the second to the last child born of ten children.

He was raised and worked on the family farm in the Manila area. He attended schools in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. After graduation he attended college in Logan at Utah State University. With the outbreak of WWII he enlisted in the Marines and served in the Pacific Theater where he was one of a few survivors from the battle of Tarawa in the Gilbert Islands.

After returning from service he married Mary Mills in 1946 and together they had two sons, David and Kent. She passed away May 28, 1966. He later met and married Mary Richins Nelson on February 9, 1968, who added four additional children to their family. She passed away September 9, 2004.

Clifton spent the majority of his life owning and working the Sunny Cove Fruit and Dairy Farm. He was known for the delicious peaches he raised and handpicked. He also owned and managed the RD Wadley Clay Company.
He later drove a school bus for Alpine School District.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and gardening.
Family parties were often held at the farm, most recently in celebration of his 95th birthday.

Clifton was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he held many positions including serving in the bishopric of the original Manila Ward.

He is survived by his six children; David Wadley, Pleasant Grove, Kent (Shauna) Wadley, Ferron, Marilyn (LaMar) Dahl, Cedar Hills, Joyce Huntsman, Kathy (Wattie) Watkins and Dennis (Sherri) Nelson, all of Pleasant Grove. 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. He is preceded in death by both wives, his parents and nine siblings; Fern, Glen, Grace, Isabelle, Albert, Lucille, Merlin, Arvil, Leah and son-in-law Blaine Huntsman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m in the North Field Stake Center Chapel, 105 West 1800 North, Pleasant Grove with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Family and friends may also attend a viewing Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.
