Anna Rose McMillan Harris, 83, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.She was born January 22, 1925 in Duchesne, Utah to George “Pug” and Pearl Sweat McMillan.
She was devoted and loyal to her husband, family, friends, church and country. A graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, she was named Miss Pleasant Grove in 1941. She married William E. “Bill” Harris on January 20, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for over 65 years.
As the wife of a career Air Force officer she met and influenced people in many parts of the country. A devoted mother of a son with Downs Syndrome, she was passionate about helping people with disabilities. She taught both teachers and students at the Developmental Center in American Fork for over 20 years. She also held many callings as an active member of the LDS church.
Her hobbies included swimming, painting, sewing, hiking, traveling, cooking, and spoiling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Bill of Pleasant Grove; children Pamela [James] Melby of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Wendy [Rex] Dearden of Cincinnati, Ohio; 9 grandchildren Harris, Jesse, Spencer, Carl, Christopher, Ann, Andrea, Thomas, and Samuel; 19 great-grandchildren; Sister Carol [Finn] Murdoch of American Fork; and 2 brothers Lee [Jean] McMillan of Orem and Ken [LaRae] McMillan of Lindon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George Jr., and her son Randall James.
