Maxine Gillman (Roche) - 1/15/2010

Maxine Gillman Carlisle Roche, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Richfield on January 15, 2010. Maxine was born September 20, 1936 in Lindon, Utah to Kenneth R. and Velma N. Gillman. She married Ivan J. Carlisle of Payson, Utah on June 6, 1956, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they have four children: Michelle, Gary, Julie, and Jeanne. Maxine developed a love for horses, rodeos, ranching and farming at a very young age. In 1954, she was rodeo queen for the Fiesta Days in Spanish Fork. She continued to exhibit excellence in horsemanship competition in western pleasure riding, winning numerous awards. Maxine graduate from Pleasant Grove High School and attended LDS Business College. She worked for KSL Television and the U.S. Social Security Department. Additionally, Maxine was a certified mediator and paralegal. Through the years, she worked side by side with her husband, owning and operating a successful Grade-A dairy farm in Central Minnesota. Upon retiring in 1995, they returned to Utah and settled in Richfield to be near their son and his cattle ranch and excavation business. The recent years in Utah were spent renewing relationships with friends and family. Shortly after celebrating fifty years of marriage, Ivan passed away on December 17, 2006. On March 1, 2008, Maxine married Milton Leon Roche, and they enjoyed their short time together living between Thatcher, Richfield, and St. George. Maxine is survived by her current husband and her four children: Michelle Swift, Midvale; Gary (Susan) Carlisle, Redmond; Julie (Chad) Atkinson, Payson; and Jeanne (Marc) Isom; Blackfoot, Idaho. She has twenty-three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Charleen (Bud) Astin, Lindon; and Janice "Judy" (Harry) L. Peacock, St. George; step-children: Bryon, Johnny, Julie Stokes, Bob, Mary Leavitt, Dianne Cervantez, Shirley Soifua, Tresa Miller and Heidi Hess. Maxine is preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan; parents; a sister who died in infancy; brother-in-law, John L. Bylund; grandson, Justin James Isom; and granddaughter-in-law, Theresa Bosshardt. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Richfield Fifth Ward Chapel, 805 North 500 East, Richfield. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel in Richfield on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery.
