Betty Ruth Oscarson (Adams) - 10/11/2020

Class of 1971

Betty passed away peacefully with family members present on October 11, 2020. Pancreatic cancer was a hurdle she could not surmount but mercifully suffered little pain to the end.

She is the daughter of Robert August and Betty Jean Burningham Oscarson. She was born March 29, 1953 and was the sixth of nine children. Growing up on a farm with animals, fruit trees, and many friends was a great mix. She excelled in Future Homemakers of America during high school and served as second state vice president. She enjoyed a nice chaperoned trip to New York City with the other state officers.

Betty and Edward Jon Adams were sealed on September 22, 1972, in the Salt Lake temple and enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage. They have three sons: Ben (Melissa), Dan (Rachel), and Mike (Melissa), along with nine grandchildren.

Betty was a terrific homemaker and an amazing cook. She taught herself many skills in which she excelled, such as her beautiful penmanship. When it came to color schemes and creativity she was in a league of her own, sewing anything from clothing to curtains. She was a quick wit and jokester who loved a punch line that caught you off guard! Her greatest efforts were reserved for her family. She showed her love through her actions, thoughtfulness, and example. To know Betty was to love her. She was a wonderful friend and companion. She enjoyed people and had many lasting friendships over the years.

In light of COVID-19 and what cancer spared, there will be no viewing. A small, private funeral service will be held Saturday, October 24. Never looking for fanfare, she desired no funeral and almost got her wish with public health restrictions in place. She battled many health issues for several years and the end of this life is a wonderful release for her. We look forward to meeting her again in a proper and perfect state.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
