Farrel E. West - 10/24/2005

Class of 1935

ST. GEORGE - Farrel E. West passed away October 24, 2005 in St. George, Utah. He was born December 5, 1916 in Lindon, Utah to Lester Gay and Margaret Foutz Walker West, the sixth of ten children. Farrel was raised on a farm and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He met, then later eloped with Nelda Maria Newren on June 28, 1936 to Farmington, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple in December, 1943.

Farrel worked in timber and construction most of his life, thus resulting in their moving every year or so. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities throughout his married life. He and Nelda especially enjoyed serving 12 years in the Provo temple.

They moved to St. George in 1995. They are the parents of seven children, with 24 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren and three greatgreat grandchildren.

Farrel was preceded in death by his wife Nelda, his parents, six brthers: Leo, Burnell, Ray, Rulon, Shelby and Julian, one sister, Phyllis Dixon and several sisters and brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his children, Dixie (Gary) Oakden, Judith (K.D.) Schwiermann, Linda (Martin) Yack, Cliff (Claudia) West, Mary (Jerry) Sandberg, Lester (Ester) West, Becky (Gordy) Wilde, sisters, Belva Adams and Delores Wendte and sisterin-law, Leora West.

We wish to thank the Meadows, the nurses and Applegate Hospice for the care given to our dad the last months of his life.
