ST. GEORGE - Ray Lynn Hiatt, Jr., age 65, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007, while camping in Zion's National Park. He was born June 24, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ray Lynn Hiatt, Sr. and Geraldean Croff Hiatt. He married Diane West on in1961. She preceded him in death in 1982, and he married Lynda Stewart, on July 3, 1982, in American Fork, Utah.He lived in Spanish Fork, Provo, and Pleasant Grove, as a child, enlisted in the National Guard in 1960 and moved to Arizona where he worked as a telegrapher for a short time. He worked as a custom painting contractor in Utah and California. He had many friends, and both friends and family enjoyed his fun, playful, good nature. As a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served many callings. His callings included scouts, counselor, high-priest group leader, and ward missionary. He loved the outdoors, going camping, fishing, and hunting. His other hobbies included restoring vehicles and taking his restored jeep in the outdoors. He loved being together with his family, and he found great joy in his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Hiatt, of St. George, Utah; children, David Lynn and Judi Marie Hiatt, of Fallbrook, California, Lisa Diane and Bryan John Hamilton, of St. George, Utah, and Kathryn Carrado and John Carbone, of Oceanside, California; mother, Geraldean Croff Hiatt, of Pleasant Grove, Utah; brothers, Steven Lee Hiatt, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Russell Eugene Hiatt, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and sister Julie Carling, of American Fork, Utah; and grandchildren, Heather Hiatt, Megan Hiatt, Amber Hiatt, Rachel Hiatt, Christian Hamilton, Ashley Hamilton, Aspen Hamilton, Stephanie Schweigert, Jace Schweigert, Tyler Olin, and Blake Olin. He is predeceased by his son, Chris Hiatt, and father, Ray Lynn Hiatt, Sr.
