Madge Harris Peterson Penrod, 76, of Benjamin, long-time Pleasant Grove resident, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005 at her home. She was born October 15, 1929 in Lindon to LeRoy and Mable Devey Harris.She married Don Reed Peterson, April 15, 1949 in Pleasant Grove. Don passed away on January 12, 1954. She married Ned Penrod on December 15, 1989.
Madge grew up in Lindon and attended schools in Lindon and Pleasant Grove, graduating from Pleasant Grove High School. During her childhood, Madge learned the value of hard work on her family's farm. After Don Reed passed away, Madge worked to support her two children. She worked many years at Christensen's Department Store and IGA Grocery Store in Pleasant Grove. She later worked in banking at the Bank of Pleasant Grove as a teller and after many years of service, managed the Lindon Branch. Madge enjoyed working in the PTA and the Primary and Young Women's Organizations of the church.
After her marriage to Ned, they moved to Benjamin and bought a new house where they could enjoy country-life together. They had 16 wonderful years together.
Madge is survived by her husband Ned of Benjamin; her son Don C. (Marcia)Peterson of Lindon; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four siblings: Dee Harris, Ione Weaver, Lois Harding, Wilma Mann; step-children: Kent (Pat)Penrod and Marsha (Farrell) Hatfield and son-law, James L. Harmer. Madge was recently preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Jo Harmer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday at the mortuary one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
