Grant A. Maxfield, 85, passed away October 7, 2003 at his home in Pleasant Grove.Dad was born August 2, 1918 in Lindon, Utah to Archie and Nellie Holland Maxfield. He married Fern Robinson Maxfield on July 23, 1940. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He was raised by his father and loving stepmother Mary Gleason. Dad attended Pleasant Grove High School. He served in the military during World War II. He worked for Geneva Steel for thirty-three years, retiring in 1980. After the death of his wife, he married Earlin Walker on February 13, 1990. Dad was a loving, kind father and grandfather. He loved life. He was always working on his farm and in later years on his (perfect) garden. He had a wonderful sense of humor even until the end. He had a testimony of the church and was so proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife, Earlin Maxfield, of Pleasant Grove; three sons and two daughters: Paul and Marilyn Maxfield, Pleasant Grove; Janet and Kent Wells, Pleasant Grove; Don R. and Sharon Maxfield, and Angie Hatfield, Central Utah; Vaughn and Tami Maxfield, Plain City, Utah; Doug & SueAnn Jex, Idaho Falls; five stepchildren: Gene and Darline Carter; Karen and (Gary Walker, deceased); ReNae Allred; Dan and Jamie Walker; Dennis & Josette Walker; a sister, Ellen Peterson, Murray, Utah; 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 17 stepgrandchildren, 53 step-great- grandchildren and 12 step-great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 N. 100 W. Pleasant Grove.
Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military honors conducted by District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
