Burdene Walker Shores - 4/8/2008

Class of 1947

Burdene Walker Shores, 78, of Lindon passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at her home. She was born June 17, 1929 in Pleasant Grove to Leonard and Edith Stagg Walker.

Burdene grew up in Lindon, went to school there, and graduated from Pleasant Grove High. She married Unior “Bill” Shores on February 11, 1953 in American Fork. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. They traveled throughout Europe and much of the United States. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held many different positions. She enjoyed a wide range of music, from Eddy Arnold’s “Cattle Call” to Mario Lanza and the Great Tenors and Hymns. She had a great love for nature and in the summer spent most of her time working in her garden and with her roses and peonies. She was an avid family person. She kept the family fund, the family history, did a four generation book with histories and pictures, wrote the “Walker Blab” which contained news of each family and sent it to family members once a month to keep them aware of what was going on in the family, organized family parties and reunions and encouraged others to do the same. She loved serving her family.

She is survived by her husband Bill of Lindon; daughters: Jean (Bob) Jeffs, Springville; Belinda (Larry) Fischer, Boise, ID; Billie Iverson, Lindon; brothers: Reed (Mable) Walker, Lindon; Boyd (Barbara) Walker, Lindon; Royce (Joyce) Walker, Brigham City; sisters: Gayle Blackham, Moroni; Jean (Nyle) Harris, Lindon; Judy (Doyle) Pyne, Lehi; brothers-in-law: Doug Nielsen, Joe Hilton; sister-in-law: Helen Walker; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, five sisters, and a son-in-law.
