Ruth Bernice Nelson Smith, 94, of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2008. She was born May 5, 1914 in Pleasant Grove to Franklin Ferdinand and Bertha Rose Loader Nelson. She married Daniel Miley Smith on August 26, 1939 in the Salt LDS Temple. Daniel passed away in 2003.Bernice grew up in Pleasant Grove and American Fork and attended schools there. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1935. Bernice studied interior design and family living while attending the University of Utah.
She and Daniel raised their children in Salt Lake City and Reno, NV where Daniel served as Bishop in the Mt. Rose Reno Second Ward. They later returned to the Millcreek area of Salt Lake where they spent their Golden Years.
She was an excellent homemaker, enjoyed gardening and was an avid family history buff. Her greatest enjoyment in life was being with family.
She is survived by her two daughters: Judith (Arlan) Baird, Ogden; Melody Johnson, Saratoga Springs; nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
