Oliver Kay Peterson (O.K.), age 81, passed away on November 29, 2009 at his home in Provo from complications of cancer.He was born November 15, 1928 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, son of William James and Sylvia Thornton Peterson.
Kay graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1947 and served four years in the army during the Korean War.
He married Wanda Larson in 1952 and was later divorced. In 1970, he married Mona Brandley Heninger. They had over thirty-nine wonderful years together.
Kay was a marketing manager for Mountain Bell and Qwest in Provo and Salt Lake City for thirty-four years. He served on several boards including: UVU, Am. Indian, Sertoma, and currently AUSWR (Association of U.S. West Retirees). He served in many church callings including, Scouts, Young Men, High Council, Bishop, and temple worker.
He and Mona served missions in New Hampshire, Washington D.C., and South Provo. Kay's greatest joy was his family and his friends. He loved to serve others. He loved working hard, and especially enjoyed animals, sports, children, and travel.
Kay is survived by his wife, Mona; one sister, Mary Crook of St. George; children: Lori England (David); Doug Peterson (Chris); Suzy Hunter (Tom); Greg Peterson; Elsie Garner (Paul); David Heninger (Melanie); Charlotte Brady (Chris); Richard Heninger (Laurie); thirty-nine grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 in the Edgemont Fifth Ward Chapel, 350 East 2950 North, Provo. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel on Friday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment: East Lawn Memorial Hills, Provo.
