Jewel Beatrice Walker (Vogel - 7/15/1971

Class of 1942

The daughter of Henry "Murvel" Walker and Beatrice Charlotta Bjork, Jewel was baptized on 02 Mar 1924 in Lindon (now Orem), Wasatch County, Utah.

Jewel married August John "Gussie" Vogel, Jr. on 26 Feb 1946 in the parsonage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois. Their attendants were Ed Kinsey of Silex, Missouri, Paul Mossman of Golden Eagle, Illinois, Evelyn Lesseg of St. Louis, Missouri, and Myra Lou Kirn of Golden Eagle. A dinner was held at the home of Gussie's parents that evening and a dance took place the following night at the Brussels High School Gymnasium.

The Vogels were the parents of 5 children.

Jewel died at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 47 years, 6 months and 4 days old.

She was survived by her husband, Gussie; 1 daughter; 3 sons; her mother and father; 2 brothers, Bernard and Don Walker, both of Utah; and 2 sisters, Eva Hardman of Utah, and Janice Craig of Arizona.

Jewell was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol.

Visitation was held at Hanks Funeral Home in Brussels on 17 Jul 1971. Funeral services were conducted there at 10 a.m. on the morning of 19 Jul 1971.

Jewel's husband, Gussie, passed away in 1978 and was buried next to her.
