Richard (Dick) William Deveraux, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, at the age of 82, completed his mission here on earth and returned home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born to Ira and Pearl Deveraux on August 7, 1929 in Pleasant Grove Utah, where he lived his entire life. He attended Pleasant Grove High School, where he graduated in 1947. He met his sweetheart and eternal companion Mary Vance after he graduated. At that time he was working for Utah Power and Light. They got engaged in the winter of 1949 and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on August 11, 1950.

After Dick became a journeyman lineman, he enjoyed teaching the apprentices. He was on the examining board for IBEW Local 57. He later became the apprentice director over all the apprentices in the entire company. He retired from UP& L after 39 years of dedicated service. He then started teaching in the lineman program at UVCC for another ten years.

Dick had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, especially with his wife Mary. They were widely known to sing together at funerals and other events. They sang in the Timpanogos Chorale for many years. Dick also sang in the men's Mendelssohn Chorus.

He loved scouting and received his Eagle Award and Eagle Feather from President George Albert Smith in 1946. He spent many years involved in scouting.

He loved working at the temple. He worked at the baptistery at the Provo Temple for seven years. He and his wife were temple workers for a total of fifteen years at the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos temples.

He is survived by his eternal companion Mary; daughters Marcia (Steve) Margetts, Dixie (Alan) Young, Angela (Teddy) Howard, sons Van (Janet) Deveraux, Stan (Sonya) Deveraux, Gary (Debbie) Deveraux, 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Joseph and Pearl Pamelo Richins Deveraux; his sister, Lucille Littleford; brothers, Ira Dean and Dale Mark and grandson Deveraux Joshua "DJ" Howard.
