Surrounded by family, Russ passed away on August 29, 2011 from prostate cancer. He was born November 11, 1952 to Grant Devere Roberts and Phyllis Marie Duffin and grew up in Elsinore, Utah. He was the sixth of seven children. He graduated from South Sevier High School where he played football, baseball and ran track. On September 7, 1973 he married his sweetheart Loralee Hansen in the Manti LDS temple. They are the parents of three children. Russ worked as a structural steel estimator and was employed by Adams Smith Inc. He enjoyed woodwork, family history, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a financial clerk, secretary in his Elder's Quorum and High Priest's Group, as a counselor in the Stake Young Men's Presidency, and in scouting. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John and Donald, and his sisters Karla Dastrup and Jill Smith. He is survived by his wife Lora, who provided loving care throughout his illness; daughters Heidi (Laine) Sabey, Herriman; Heather (Aaron) Ashby, Herriman; son Jeremy (Alicia), Lehi; sister Dana (Larry) Moller, Murray; brother Brent (Sydney), South Jordan; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lehi North Stake Center, 600 East 3100 North, Lehi. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jenkins Soffe Funeral Home at 1007 West South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan and on Friday at 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Lehi North Stake Center.
