Diana Kirby Franklin - 2/18/2012
Class of 1948
KANAB - Di Franklin passed away peacefully on February 18, 2012 following complications from a fall. She was born December 5, 1929 to Ernest George and Rita Haycock Kirby. As a teenager she lived a few years in Orderville where her father taught school. She spent many summers in the Barracks, at the Foote ranch, but lived most of her life in Kanab.
She married the love of her life, Doyle V Franklin in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Her life was centered around family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were camping and fishing with family and hunting with the ladies in the old red jeep. She was also a hard worker, and enjoyed the various jobs she had in Kanab. The things she enjoyed most were golfing, reading, traveling, and playing bridge.
Mom was known for her one of a kind sense of humor. She always had a witty remark or joke for anyone she met, a trait she inherited from her father and has passed on to her posterity. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and found joy in her associations with friends there. Moms wit and smile and optimism will be missed by many.
Diana was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sisters Mary May Robertson and Sandra Currey. She is survived by her sons John Buck (Laurie) Franklin, Raleigh (Rhonda) Franklin, daughter Nita (Elgin) Crosby, brother George (Lonnie) Kirby, 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
