Naideen Cowley Nelson, age 81, passed away in Cedar City, Utah. From natural causes in her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. She was born in Milford, Utah on May 21, 1928 to Melvin & Leta Magleby Cowley. The family left Milford when Naideen was 1 year old and moved to Cedar City. Her father worked at Peterson Drug for a short time. Lost his job because of the depression in 1932, and they moved to Pioche, NV to own and operate the drug store there. Naideen grew up and attended Lincoln County Schools. Aafter 11 years, her family had the chance to buy Peterson Drug in Cedar City. They moved backed to Cedar City Naideen's junior year of High School, where she played in the school band. She was first chair clarinet, and the music club secretary. She also was an accomplished pianist. Naideen married Harris Mac Nelson on September 7, 1948. She raised her children and worked in the drug store until the Iron Mines closed and mom and dad moved to Farmington, New Mexico, until Harris took an early retirement due to heath problems. They purchased a motor home and enjoyed traveling with friends. They enjoyed waterskiing at Lake Mead, snowmobiling, snow skiing, and 4 wheeling. And spent as much time as they could at the cabin at Navajo Lake. But most of all they just enjoyed life together with their family and friends.Naideen enjoyed spending time with each of her grandchildren. Her door was always open and would take them and all their friends in at any time. They nicknamed her house "Grandma's Bed & Breakfast". She was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, and a member of the Ladies Of Elk where she held many offices including President.
She is survived by her 3 children: Scott (Debbie Cripps) Nelson of Cedar City, Alan (Judy Frost) Nelson of Page, AZ., and D'Ann (Kim) Esmeier of Las Vegas, NV. A special niece Shanna Nelson also of Las Vegas, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Betty Jean Cowley. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Dex.
