Laurie Stephens - 1/15/2012
Class of 1973
Our sister, daughter, friend, and co-worker was released from all earthly limitations on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Laurie (Lori) was born November 29, 1953 to Floyd and Joy Stephens. She was the baby of the family with big brown eyes, blond-white hair, and a determined mindset. Our parents provided a safe, loving home focusing on Laurie (Lori) reaching her full potential. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Lori enjoyed working at Danville for thirty years where she developed many friends. She spent many hours knitting dish clothes, singing and working on cross-word puzzles. Lori loved learning to play the piano so much that she bought one for herself. Many of her favorite activities were the Diner's Club, Elks Club party dances, and bowling. Lori loved life, especially while living at "The Happy House" with her cute roommates and caring staff.
She is survived by her brother Bradley Scott Stephens (Elaine); sister Tawnya Stephens; nieces and nephews Jolyn Stephens, Elizabeth Stephens, Michael Stephens, Millie Stephens, Michelle Dunyan, Jonathan Dunyan, and Gary Dunyan; great nephew Shane Christian; her dog Zoie; and special friend Sylvia Valenzuela. She was preceeded in death by her parents Floyd and Joy Stephens and sister Sharon Stephens Dunyon.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. Aggarwal along with the ICU staff at Valley View Medical Center for their loving and respectful care. Life may have been challenging for Laurie (Lori) but she taught those who were willing to learn.
