David Harold Evans - 9/15/2006
Class of 1973
Closing his earthly performance of 51 years, he will appear on a new stage today, having left his favorite audience, his family on September 15, 2006. He was born in Cedar City, Utah June 14, 1955 to Harold Bernard Evans and Melba Ann Haslam Evans.David grew up in Cedar City, attending the local public schools. Graduating from Cedar High School, and SUU where he was very active in drama and had the opportunity to perform in many roles. He loved to please the audience and was very often on stage for his family. David had the opportunity to work at a large movie studio just out of college and that led him into the movie making industry. His dream was to produce the Book of Mormon on film.
Though he was unable to finish that dream, he gained a great deal of life experience, met numerable people in the business and was able to share with some of them the gospel of Jesus Christ.
At thirty five David married Karen Christene Bigler. She brought with her four children, John, BJ, Matt, and Nichole. He loves her madly, and the children are his greatest treasure. David loves his family first and foremost in tandem with his love of Jesus Christ. He was and is the family genealogist. He made every effort to provide history, pictures, facts, and opportunities to keep his family together. Even with failing health, David was able to attend the Evans family reunion in Aug. this year. He always made great personal sacrifice to keep the family connected. He was Uncle David to so many and parented many children in addition to his own, attending all their important events, sending them birthday cards, making them Christmas goodies.
David loves scouting with a passion. He aided numerous young men along their scout trail. He sent invitations to many dignitaries when his sons received their Eagle awards, knowing they would get a response. The letters of congratulations fill their scrap books. He helped a son with special needs reach his Eagle, and advance farther than anyone could have expected. David wanted the youth to be recognized for their efforts and knew the importance of it. His support and belief in the abilities of his family is unending. His desire to be with them is always paramount. David believed in serving others. He contributed his time, his talents and monies to that end. He loved the title of Home Teacher and took it very serious. David served in many capacities in his church, and loved planning ward parties.
