Tracey Layron Williams passed away in his home from natural causes on September 5, 2004.He was born to Rymal Graff and Isobel Finlinson Williams on April 19, 1949, in Cedar City, Utah. Tracey was raised in Cedar City and spent the majority of his life there. He often expressed his love for the beautiful mountain setting. Educated in Iron County Schools, he graduated from Cedar High School in 1967.
From 1968 to 1970 Tracey served honorably in the British Mission in London, England. Upon returning to Cedar City, he attended Southern Utah State College (now SUU), graduating in 1973 with a degree in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry. From 1973 to 1977, he attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, WA, where he graduated in the top of his class with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Tracey married Jackie Madsen in the St. George Temple June 9, 1973. They were the parents of Carolyn, Ross, Chase, and Jeff. They divorced in 1990. He married Shirleen Hales Swapp in Cedar City, Utah, on February 11, 1995. They were later divorced. He had a strong testimony and knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He frequently shared his testimony and often engaged in gospel discussions with his family. Tracey served as Ward Financial Clerk in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 20 years.
Dr. Williams practiced dentistry in Cedar City, Utah, from 1977 to 2004, and was a skilled and compassionate dental practitioner. He was always well-liked, and had many loyal patients and employees throughout his years. The thrust of his life was providing for those whom he loved. A much loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, dentist, and friend, Tracey will truly be missed by many. His kindness, selflessness, and giving heart are attributes that will be long remembered. He was one who was always concerned with the well-being of others, and put their needs before his own.
Tracey was preceded in death by his son, Ross Madsen Williams; his parents, Rymal Graff and Isobel Finlinson Williams; and his brother, Roger Fin Williams. He is survived by his children, Carolyn (Justin) Taylor of Springville; Chase (Teresa) Williams of Omaha, Nebraska; and Jeff Williams, Cedar City; two grandchildren Brynn and Saige Taylor of Springville; and brothers and sisters, Cynthia Dunaway, Merrill (Marilyn) Williams, Sue Ellen (Paul) Davis, and Roland (Julie) Williams, all of Cedar City.
