On May 1, a total of 13 students from GCHS’s construction and interior design classes went on a trip to Salt Lake City to take an architectural tour to see some of the original buildings from the area.
The group’s first tour went along South Temple Street to view 10 of the older buildings, including mansions, cathedrals, and old business buildings. The students entered The Cathedral of the Madeleine and viewed some of the stained glass, wood carvings, and tile work.
After a quick lunch the group toured Salt Lake’s Main Street where they viewed many of the older banks of the area.
The group’s last tour was the inside of the Salt Lake City County building, where some of the students signed their names in pencil on the white bricks of the inner clock tower at the very top.
The students who went on the trip were Selena Butterfield, Brendan Bennett, Dorje Honer, Brenner Parriott, Nikki Lee, Mikayla Williams, Robin Willscheidt, Kayeley Wells, Raeme Clark, Tyren Flanders, Cheyenne Shumway, Sommer Hutchinson, and Karissa Martin. Advisers were Kent Dalton and Jennifer McKay.
